40 Days and 40 Nights - Day 40

The thing most people get wrong about goals is they only focus on the steps. When the truth is that achieving goals has very little to do with what you do and EVERYTHING to do with who you become.

Because goal setting is really about identity shaping.

In order to get what you want you need to become the type of person whose lifestyle reflects their future success.

Think about someone who has what you want. Then ask what characteristics do they have? What kinds of things do they do?

And then it’s not just about doing those things it’s about becoming the type of person whose default is to have those characteristics.

Going to the gym is not a chore it’s a part of your life. It’s what you do which leaves no room for considering hitting snooze.

Spending extra time on your side hustle isn’t something you have to plan it’s your routine.

And for me being a writer is who I am, not something I have to schedule. It’s been 40 days and 40 nights of writing because it’s a part of me, it’s a non-negotiable.

If you want your life to be different then…

  1. Figure out who you want to be with accuracy and clarity.

  2. Stop focusing on what you need to do.

  3. Start focusing on who you need to become.
