Day 6

Sometimes the hard thing and the right thing are the same thing.

The easiest way to do hard things is to have a clear vision of where you want to go.

Even better, ask yourself:

Who do you want to be?

What do you want to be known for?

What impact do you want to have on the world?

How do you want to remembered?

Then set goals around that person. Think about what kinds of things they do, what characteristics they have and how they show up in the world. Then go do those things and be that person.

It’s gonna be hard because it’s counterintuitive to most of our culture. That’s why the vision is so important. When you know where you are going it’s easy to take the necessary steps in the present moment. Our world is too caught up in the quick fix of instant gratification.

And that’s where discipline comes in: choosing between what you want most, and what you want now.

When you stay disciplined it’s likely you will seem uncommon to the people around you. You may feel un-relatable. And that’s a good sign you are on the right track.

Quitting a good job,

Ending a relationship,

Walking away from good opportunities,

Starting over,

Sayin no,

These are all examples of hard things that most people wouldn’t understand. But it’s your vision not there’s.

Do the hard things.
