What’s more important than money? - Day 60

Today I want you to do two things.

  1. Reflect on the past year

  2. Write down 3 things for me (extra credit if you share with me)

I posted on Instagram earlier this week that as part of my process of setting goals I do a one year rewind. I look back on the past year month by month and reflect on what happened, what’s changed, what I learned and all things in between.

While flying home to Florida I did this on the plane and was blown away to realize how far I’ve come! Now on paper it might not look like much has changed: I’m still single, no house and my income is about the same. But remember growth isn’t measured by societies standards!

The biggest reflection that blew my away is just a year ago I was dissolving a business of mine with a former business partner. At the time it felt like a failure, but honestly was one of the best decisions for me. Starting that business and having a business partner helped me fast track my growth as a coach and entrepreneur. And it when it ended it allowed both of us more opportunity to do what we loved.

The wild part is it feels like that happened 10 years ago! And there are so many other areas I’ve grown in. It’s kind of funny to think about what was a struggle or worry back then.

So I challenge you to do the same. Write down your own “1 Year Rewind” and think about what has happened this past year and where were you a year ago. Here are some prompts to help you reflect on life a year ago:

-What was your mindset like?

-Where were you living?

-What struggled did you have?

-What people were in your life?

-What were your biggest goals?

Now this leads me to part two of today’s requests. I want you to write down 3 things that are more important to you than money. I’m hoping that reflecting on the past year will help you see what you really value. And in today’s society we can get so caught up in money.

The three things that really come up for me are:

  1. My health

  2. Time

  3. Autonomy

I also thought about putting close relationships there 😃, but I’ll stick with these three! Ultimately in order to do what I love, show up as the best version of myself and better love others my health is paramount. Time is so precious and having the ability to do what I want with my time and also make the most of the time I have is so important. Lastly my autonomy or agency is what really makes life worth living for me. Being in control is the most freeing feeling in the world.

At the end of the day if I can focus on these things my next year will be a success! And if you focus on your top 3 I bet it will be too.

I’m excited for the clarity you will gain from these exercises and I would love for you to share with me any “aha” moments from your 1 year rewind or your top 3 things more important than money!
